Throughout history, there have been two views on who we are as human beings, and each has affected the delivery and expectations of healthcare. One view sees life as a big physical machine that will, at some point break down and will have to be manipulated back to a workable state that is probably less than original in both function and reliability. This Newtonian view of the Universe sees everything in terms of physics and chemistry. It’s called Mechanism and is the basis of medical practice... waiting for a disease or symptom to show, then manipulating the body back to the doctor’s interpretation of normal with drugs, radiation, and surgery. This manipulation is designed to produce a disease-free state but always has side effects. This is the primary approach of our current medical, industrial/Big Pharma complex.
